After more than 20 years of receiving and distributing hundreds of thousands of shoeboxes from the UK, Blythswood Romania took the initiative in 2012 to change the culture of giving in Romania by inviting organisations, companies, churches and individuals to donate boxes filled with gifts to those who would not normally receive anything for Christmas. 

  

Over the last few years, we have received shoeboxes from all over  the country including Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Târgu Mureș and Jimbolia. In 2015, we received over 2700 shoeboxes containing toys, warm clothes, toiletries and sweets. These are then delivered to vulnerable children and adults, the majority of whom live in poverty, in their homes, in old folks’ homes, in childrens’ homes and in hospitals.
