Blythswood Romania

about us

Asociația Societatea de Caritate Blythswood (Blythswood Romania) is a charitable organization that provides spiritual and practical help to those in need. Our vision is to positively change people’s lives through social assistance projects, humanitarian aid and through partnerships with other organizations. Blythswood Romania has been operating since 1995 and is part of the Blythswood international network.

parent organization

Blythswood Care

The Blythswood Care organization was founded in the Scottish city of Glasgow in 1966, and was among the first organizations to send humanitarian aid to Romania since the early 90s. Pastor Jackie Ross visited Romania in the 80s, during which time he met with Reformed Pastor Levente Horvath, as well as other local spiritual leaders. Thus a close bond was formed between the Scottish organization and the Romanian group and, as a result, in 1995 Blythswood Romania was founded as a Christian charity.

In the following years, hundreds of trucks full of clothes, food and gift boxes travelled the route from Inverness to Romania. Even if these aids were temporary solutions for the problems of people in need, the organization wanted a more sustainable impact in the communities in which it was involved.

Daniel Center

In 2000, the organization’s first and largest project, the Daniel Centre, was inaugurated by Pastor Jackie Ross, one of the founders of Blythswood Care. The idea of the project was to provide a stable environment for young people raised in the care of the state, where young people could develop and move towards an independent life. Since 2000, almost 150 young people have benefited from the Daniel Center program.

With the opening of the Daniel Center, Blythswood Romania developed and ended up working in different communities in the country, transforming lives together by offering practical and spiritual help.
